Naebono Art Studio

Naebono Art Studio is run by artists who are based in Sapporo. This old warehouse has two stores with a floor space of 890 square metres, and was once a canned-goods factory. The building was refurbished by the members, and started as art studios in July, 2017.
There are more than 10 groups sharing this building including Japan’s longest-established artist-in-residence office, a photo studio and galleries. This facility also has an open space of 100 square metres that is available for various art-related activities, such as exhibitions, guest studio, music and other performances. These events are expected bring new perspectives to the field of contemporary art, and they are selected by our committee members. Rather than sharing one statement as a team of Naebono Studio, we respect each other’s spontaneous and independent practices; we desire to visualize the quality and power of art. At the same time, as a community, we hope our exchange stimulates each other’s practices, that this environment leads to various possibilities for each of us.
